COVID-19 forces students, employers to adapt summer internships

Ellora Majumder was supposed to be in Singapore this summer. Instead, she is sitting in her parents’ basement. Majumder, a rising senior logistics major, is one of countless students across the country whose internship plans changed this summer due to the coronavirus pandemic. But a new virtual internship opportunity at Fisher provided Majumder an opportunity to get a global experience.

Many MiF programs offer a route to more specialized professional qualifications. In 2018, Fisher teamed up with the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association. The deal means students can apply for scholarships to sit the Level I CAIA exam, the first step towards earning a CAIA charter.

Fisher students join efforts to help grow Ohio exports

As part of the Ohio Export Internship Program, more than 40 students utilized their export-focused coursework to conduct research on overseas markets, create export compliance manuals and assist with sales and marketing plans. The 43 members of the OEIP Class of 2019 were recently recognized by Lt. Governor Jon Husted, along with Lydia Mihalik, director of the Ohio Development Services Agency. They were joined by representatives from Fisher, Cleveland State University Monte Ahuja College of Business and Youngstown State University Williamson College of Business.
