Career Management
Our world-class Career Management staff are eager and committed to helping students achieve their employment goals. • cover letter and resume writing workshops
  • interviewing techniques workshop
  • mock interviews
  • networking events

Career Management also provides consultation on job and internship search preparation, organizes career fairs and on-campus interviews, and maintains postings for career and internship positions through FisherConnect (our web-based job and internship search tool).

The Career Management staff keeps its finger on the pulse of ongoing hiring trends and can anticipate and plan for changes in hiring practices and needs. This ensures that you can position yourself to potential employers in the best possible way. Fisher College MBAs graduate already in step with the business community and equipped to hit the ground running wherever they find themselves.

Recruitment Opportunities
Fisher’s highly ranked MBA program and its well-regarded Career Management department attract the best and most sought-after companies to recruit from Fisher. For example, some recent Fisher students have accepted positions with Accenture, A.T. Kearney, Bear Stearns, The Boston Consulting Group, Capital One, Deloitte, Disney, Ford Motor Company, Limited Brands, McKinsey & Co., Microsoft, Nestle, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Procter & Gamble. For more information on the variety of recruiters who visit Fisher, see the "Companies Recruiting" section.

Career Development
From the day you first step on campus, you will find a variety of tools at your disposal, all designed to provide you with professional enhancement and networking opportunities. Fisher hosts high-profile business executives at our Executive Lunch series and at the Distinguished Speaker Series (DISS), sponsored by the International Programs office.

Alumni and other friends of Fisher College who have attained leadership positions in their companies are invited into the classroom as guest lecturers and look forward to meeting the class. Course work is designed to hone and build confidence in your presentation and public speaking skills. There are also scheduled events to address every aspect of your career development, including our “professional polish” series.

Internships
Although internships are not a required part of the curriculum, you are encouraged, as a Fisher student, to seek an internship during the summer between your first and second years. Internships are a perfect way for you to try out a new industry or investigate a field or company of interest before concentrating on it during your second year of classwork. Finding and serving in an internship is also a great foundation for building your personal network, not to mention for possibly landing a job!

Although the responsibility for finding an internship ultimately falls to you, Career Management s staff members work actively and directly with corporate recruiters who are interested in sourcing graduate-level candidates for short-term project work. As internship opportunities are located, they appear immediately on listserves, as well as the Fisher College job board, giving you easy access to them.

International Students
At Fisher, more than 30% of students enrolled in the full-time MBA class are international students. Consequently, Career Management places a great emphasis on meeting the special challenges and unique needs of international students.  For example, Career Services includes a consultant who specializes in developing personalized plans for global job searches and helps international students searching for jobs in the United States, as well as students looking for international job opportunities.

Placement
While a good number of our graduates decides to accept positions in the Midwest region of the U.S., this is by no means a ’Regional MBA’ or ’Midwest MBA’ or even ’Ohio MBA’. Our students receive offers throughout the U.S. - be it on the West coast, East coast or the South of the U.S. In fact, more than 5% of Fisher’s full-time MBA graduates find jobs internationally directly following graduation. Fisher maintains recruiting relationships with companies worldwide, including U.S. companies with operations in other countries.

Fisher ranks #1 in the nation in placement success and #2 in career progression, according to the Financial Times.

In 2007, The Wall Street Journal rated Fisher 3rd nationally among schools with strong regional recruiting bases.
